Solar Impulse

My former teacher recently sent me a postcard about Solar Impulse. Since I did not know what Solar Impulse is, I made a quick research about it.

Here is the postcard:

Solar Impulse is a Swiss long-range, ultra-lightweight solar powered aircraft project. The aircraft accomplished its travel from coast to coast in the USA. The co-founders are Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg. To build this aircraft they had to incorporate knowledge in: material science, energy management and man-machine. According to the co-founder, the purpose of the aircraft is not to carry passengers but to send a message. The message they want to deliver is to change peoples minds about renewable energy. They feel people should be encouraged to use available technological solutions to protect the environment. Additionally, it can create jobs and open a new market.

Welcome

Hello reader:

My nickname is Evo, which is my last name. This is my 1st blog. The reason for this blog is to share interesting articles and news that I read online or in a magazine.

Let me tell you a little about me. I currently graduated from Hudson County Community College. I received an AS in Engineering Science. Nevertheless, I will continue my education in Electrical or Computer engineering, or both in NJIT. Unfortunately as a result of personal issues, I have not choose what career path to follow.

Just in case you are curious why I am pursuing this career, my interest in engineering began when I was 11-12. My aunt and her husband work as Civil Engineers.  They took me to some construction projects they were working on, such as the remodeling of a house and a 30 floor building. Then when I stood in front of the remodeling house, I was excited about how my family planed and designed the house. After, my aunt showed me the software CAD, I was amazed by how a computer could show you a completed-design of the house. In that moment, I knew I wanted to be a civil engineer.

Later on, in High School, as you can see in my previous post, I built a robot. In addition, I also slightly help with the conversion of a gas car into an electrical car. Rather than houses, I became more interested in electrical hardware and computer software.

Since then my interest in science became apparent and continues to grow into one of my deepest passions.

High School Robotics

When I was in HS back in 2011, I built a mechanical car/robot. Also, I designed the cad files using Solidworks.  -Evo

Hi, I am Evo's former teacher, Ron Grosinger.  I gave Evo this project of assembling this robot from parts.  He did 99% of it himself.  I really was to busy to give a step by step instruction.  I was so proud of him when he completed this himself.  He even created and assembled a CAD file with measured dimentions.  It was awesome.

Now Evo is an NJIT college student.  My does time fly by.  I think he will attempt to join a robotics club at NJIT.  If anybody needs a reference or letter of support for Evo, I can write it.  Contact me, Ron Grosinger at my email: Ron.Grosinger@gmail.com
